Molding

Pier Foundry & Pattern Shop utilizes 2 types of molding: green sand & no bake sand molding. We operate 4 green sand production lines using 16x20 & 20x24 automatic molding machines and 30x30 & 28x38 cope and drag molding machines. Our automatic molding machines are capable of producing 70-80 molds per hour for castings ranging from ounces to 80 lbs. Our cope & drag molding machine produces 15-20 molds per hour for castings from 50 to 250 lbs. We also provide no bake molding, which is a chemically bonded sand molding process designed for larger, low volume, tight tolerance castings. Pier Foundry has the capability to mold castings up to 1,000 lbs. in this department.
